Sam Adekugbe is defender for Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Major Legue Soccer (MLS) & the Canadian Men’s National team. He plays as a left-back for both clubs & country. His professional career started off with the Whitecaps before he played the majority of his career in Europe for the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Valarenga, Hatayspor, and Galatasaray. During the 2022/2023, Sam won the Turkish Süper Lig championship.
Sam has made 41 appearances for the Canada National team, including in the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar where he assisted a goal versus Morrocco in the group stages of the tournament. His cross deflected off the Moroccan defender and made it’s way to the back-of-the-net for Canada’s second ever goal in Men’s World Cup history.
